The end of an era
The end of term and the end of an era, as we said goodbye to our headteacher Janette Steel, OBE.
Janette set up our hospital school 38 years ago at the old Westminster Children's Hospital, and guided by her inspirational leadership we now provide education to children and young people across six sites. The celebrations began with a "mystery guest" — who, after some musical clues, was revealed as Jan Haverkate the President of HOPE (Hospital Organisation of Pedagogues in Europe). We were also joined by previous students, many of whom spoke of their life changing experiences at the hospital school. Endings are of course new beginnings, as Janette will continue to promote hospital school education and the work of our Well at School project.
