Community
Three days of no running, thanks to a nasty cold, gives me time to consider how I got here — four weeks out from my first ever marathon!
Each week on the marathon training I go for one long run by myself, and then three or four shorter runs and meetups, which are all about community. Whether it's a session on the track with Adidas Runners, the weekly 6.30am popup fitness bootcamps with Project Awesome, an evening social run through the streets of east London with RUN DEM CREW, where it all started ten years ago with the regular Saturday morning 5k Burgess parkrun or my weekly Friday at 7am, come rain or shine run, with my friend Josephine — these are the people and communities that have brought me to believing that what once seemed impossible, might just actually be possible.

And while I know that ultimately those 26 miles on April 23rd are down to me, I wouldn't be here now without the encouragement and inspiration from all these people and communities — a huge thank you to each and every one of you!
This week's long run was a 22km/13 mile loop, over Tower Bridge, along the north bank of the Thames, crossing over into Battersea Park and then back along the south bank.
Please sponsor our intrepid music teacher, Martin, who will be running in the London Marathon on April 23rd, his first ever marathon(!) to help raise money for FCCHS, our school charity.
