Thank you for the invaluable music session you organised for the children on Great Western Ward at St Mary's Paddington which my daughter was able to attend. Although my daughter was on the ward for a while her session with Mark and Vanessa from LSO was absolutely wonderful and a real life line for her whilst being so poorly. She has talked of it often and it has provided real inspiration in as much as she is now improvising on our piano at home and I will arrange lessons for her soon. Thank you very much indeed and I sincerely hope you can secure additional funding for further arts and music activities for the children which I feel are so essential for their recovery and well being. Janette - Principal

Hello Janette, what do you do at the Hospital School?

I am the Principal of the four hospital Schools and my main task is to ensure that all students are excited about learning and achieve during their hospital admissions. I also give talks about how we can support young people with medical conditions

What are the special things about working at the Hospital School?

The most special thing about working in the hospital school (and I have now completed 25 years !!)  is seeing young people overcome their problems and achieve despite any difficulties they might have physically or emotionally.  It is a privilege to be part of these families' lives.

And finally a fact about yourself that we didn’t know before?

Whilst attending  a conference I discovered ‘Laughter Yoga’  -  the letting go of stress and filling your mind with laughter increases the endorphins and serotonin in the brain – leaving a feel good factor.  I practice this each day wherever I am – and sometimes I get some very ‘funny’ looks – do try it and let me know, you can find some lessons on the internet.
