Thank You!

A huge thank you to every one of you who supported our first ‘SuperHero FunRun’. Firstly to all our generous sponsors – your donations will make a big difference to the lives of children in hospital. Thank you to our wonderful team of runners which included students, teachers, nurses, friends and family. A special mention goes to Haile who raised £242, Robin who raised £410, Nigel from Purple Mash who raised over £200 and all our students who together raised £880! We will post the total once we've added it all up. Have a look at the photos below, and if you wish you can still sponsor our students here.

CCHS Superhero Fun Run

Join us on Sunday 14th May for the CCHS Superhero Fun Run!

Pull on your cape and join thousands of other superheroes at London’s Regent’s Park this May.

Whether you choose to walk, jog or run, Chelsea Community Hospital School really does need heroes, like yourself, to take part in the CCHS Superhero Run.

Thank you Waitrose

A huge thank you to Waitrose, Edgeware Road, for their continued, generous support which enables our school to remain open for children in hospital during the school holidays. Su Browne attended an afternoon for charities funded by Waitrose’s green tokens initiative.

Thank you Tesco

A huge thank you to Tesco for their generous support which enables our school to remain open for children in hospital during the school holidays. Janette Steel was presented with a cheque for £1,500.

Trip to Hamleys

IMG 2143smallOn Thursday 26th January, two children from RBH had a very exciting trip to Hamleys in London. The children were amazed by all seven floors of toys and had great fun having a go at being Hamleys toy testers!

Janette's Newsletter

Hope is the last item that flies out of Pandora’s Box.
A rainbow is the symbol of hope and you cannot see a double rainbow without looking up and smiling.
This was the anniversary of the past - now we have hope for the future...

We say farewell to Marie

There were a lot of empty plates! We can’t believe we didn’t get a picture of the spread, including the famous “Mikey’s Cakes” Guinness cake. But there was a good turnout including nurses, doctors, wider MDT members, governors, and Marie’s current and former colleagues in CCHS. They all went back full of sweetness and memories of Marie, brought back by the lovely slide show.

Martin receives Long Service Award

Martin was presented with a 20 year Long Service Award by the Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Councillor Mrs Elizabeth Rutherford. “I’m delighted to join the esteemed CCHS 20year+ club! It just goes to show what an amazing place the Hospital School is to work” - Martin

Rachael's Summer Reads

We asked our secondary English teacher Rachael for her top suggestions for new books for the summer.

“We’re at that exciting time of year when summer is stretching ahead of you, six golden weeks……. But what will you do with yourself the whole time?! This is the perfect time to pick up a new summer read, and here’s a list of writers currently causing excitement amongst young adult readers. Some by prize winning authors, some by old favourites – even one by famous beauty vlogger Zoe Sugg! Yes, reading is great for your brain, but it’s also just a great way to escape the four walls of your room for a bit. Try something new, and if you come across any amazing reads this summer, we’d love to hear about them when you come back to school.”

A huge thank-you to our charity volunteers

A huge thank-you to our wonderful charity volunteers for all their hard work baking and selling delicious cakes on our Charity Cake Stall at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital. They have raised over £1290 for the Hospital School! Be sure to drop by for some delicious baking - or next time bake a cake for them to sell :)

Blake's Mosaics

Students have started an exciting 4 week project inspired by the paintings and poems of William Blake. Working with musicians from Wigmore Hall Learning's resident ensemble Ignite, our artist in residence Shaun and actor Charlie Folorunsho. They will be creating music, poetry and artworks. Keep an eye on their work on the special Blake's Mosaics blog.

Charity Cake Sale 28th June

Our wonderful charity volunteers will be holding a Charity Cake Sale on Tuesday 28th June at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital. Be sure to drop by for some delicious baking! Or even bake a cake for them to sell :)

Writers' Ink

Writers’ Ink is a new blog created by Chelsea Community Hospital School to celebrate children’s writing across our school.
Exciting writing is so much more than being able to identify a subordinate clause. Exciting writing is, in the words of poet and author Michael Rosen, ‘pleasure, stimulation, feeling, curiosity, wonder and fun and children finding their own voice.’ It is a love for language and the wonderful ways it can be used and manipulated to engage, entertain, inform and create. Take a read of the children's wonderful writing!

Easter Celebrations

We were thrilled to celebrate Easter as a school today as we held our Easter service with students and visitors present in the chapel at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

Thank you volunteers!
