In her English session Hattie wrote this amazing story called "My Separate World"

Then in her music session she recorded herself reading it and arranged and added a musical accompaniment.

My Separate World

by Hattie

IF YOU ARE LOOKING OUT OF MY BEDROOM WINDOW AND YOU HAPPEN TO LOOK TO THE RIGHT, YOU WILL SEE A WILD WONDROUS WORLD FULL OF FOXES, BIRDS AND A MYRIAD OF DIFFERENT SHAPES AND SIZES OF ANIMALS.

When I was little I thought that the garden was hollowed out and in this hollow existed a whole separate world. It was a massive garden where anything could happen.

Early one morning, in this world, the family of foxes came out of their den looking for the oldest brother foxes home. They wandered for many hours until finally reaching a spot in the earth that was where he had built his new den.

Meanwhile the Goddess of Animals ARTEMIS and the God of the earth geb were watching on and they saw the God of the underworld Hades arriving on horseback a sword at his waist. In a flurry of panic Artemis and Geb came to the foxes rescue. The foxes leapt with fright into the new lair.

“Stand aside” bellowed Hades in a thunderous rage. “you can’t kill these defenceless animals for your own spite” pleaded artemis, but only after the blade had come down upon the smallest of foxes, maiming him. Hades raised his sword ready to strike again. The fox struggling unable to move was bracing himself for a second blow, but it never came. As the sword was flying through the air, artemis accepted the hit, “I will not let you hurt these animals” cried artemis in agonizing pain. As geb looked on he realized every second Artemis weakened so did the fox until finally the fox lay dead and with all the strength she could muster Artemis pulled herself to the foxes side and weakly picked up the slain fox and breathed life back into the helpless creature who slowly started to stir but it was to o late to save herself.

Geb looked on to the sorry sight and with all the elements at his command screamed to the world “I banish you Hades I banish you back to the underworld “ and with a mighty rumble the earth shook and sky’s opened as the world opened beneath Hades horses feet and Hades with his horse fell into the earth’s centre.

The next day the gods came down and Artemis was buried outside the foxes lair with all the animals to witness the secret world was once more my separate world.
